Your rights will vary depending on the product/service. For cell phone services, the Wireless Code gives you the right to cancel your contract at no charge within 14 days of signing (“trial period”). Wireless providers are also not allowed to charge extra fees for canceling your service, but may apply Early Cancellation Fees as set out in the Code.
For other products/services, you will need to read your contract to understand cancellation policies. You also have rights under the Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act. If you are not satisfied with a product/service, you can complain to Consumer Protection Ontario online.
